Thanks very much to the Austin MYC for a fun, one day event. To say the conditions were challenging would be an understatement, but David did a masterful job of setting a fair course and keeping it moving to get in 12 races in one day!! We all thank him for his efforts!!
The great news is that we had some wind! August in Texas is normally 100+ degrees and NO wind, so it was great to have a few out of control runs toward the end of the event.
Of course this is the last Texas event before what will be the event of the year in Victorias, the Nationals held by our friends in San Antonio, Texas, the Woodlawn Sailing Club. Those guys put on a whale of a show, and I know that will be a super regatta.
Thanks again to David, Mitch and the rest of the folks at AMYC for a fun event. We all appreciated the water, cokes, good food and tough racing!

Today 22 of the best Texas Victoria skippers got together and sailed in the 4th Annual Round the Rocks Green Chevron Regatta. A small storm front came through during the night and our normal wind was not to be found all day. The course had to be set approximately 150 degrees from its normal direction which caused much trouble at the windward mark in the lee of some big trees. We saw huge wind shifts and the
skippers who sailed the best in these shifts did very well. The morning wind speed was light, but after lunch the wind picked up and tested the strength of some of the rigs. One race we had two dismastings and AJ's boat sunk at the leeward mark. Good thing he had some foam in the bow!
All in all we completed 12 races with two throw outs. Congratulations to JK Kuc for 3rd place, Chris Malusco for 2nd and Mr. Texan himself Brig North for 1st.
Thank you to all who attended and made the drive to the Austin area and thank you to Race Director David Rogers for RDing when he would had rather been sailing.
Mitch
